LHD Project
|
The Australian Department of Defence has commenced the acquisition of two Landing Helicopter Dock [LHD] vessels to replace
and enhance the current amphibious capability for the ADF. The ships, procured under Joint Project 2048 Phase 4A/4B, are
a variant of the 27,000 tonne Spanish BPE design by Navantia with a RAN-specific combat and communication system.
The LHD Project Office has engaged the services of AMT to provide independent expert engineering advice and support for the
acquisition phase under the Project Assurance and Engineering Support Services contract. AMT's role includes a
comprehensive design review of all ship systems which progresses the LHD Project in obtaining a documented
design assurance that facilitates Design Certification under the RAN Technical Regulatory Framework.
AMT is applying its breadth of system engineering knowhow from its background in design and engineering on successful naval
ship programs across all LHD ship system areas to fulfill this role.
