RNZN ANZAC Upgrade Contract

In a continuation of its now long relationship with the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) and its ANZAC Class Frigates, thyssenkrupp Marine Systems Australia and the New Zealand Ministry of Defence (NZ MoD) have signed a Contract for the RNZN ANZAC Class Frigate Systems Upgrade (FSU) Project. Under this Contract thyssenkrupp Marine Systems Australia is the Platform Design Authority for the FSU Project.

The Contract is to prepare and deliver the Preliminary Ship Design to the Project, a project that will ultimately secure the combat and operational capability of New Zealand's ANZAC Class frigates through the remainder of their service lives.

The Frigate Systems Upgrade project is the major combat capability upgrade for the RNZN ANZAC Class frigates. This Contract continues the close association that thyssenkrupp Marine Systems Australia has developed with the FSU Project team since the project's inception. The preliminary design that is developed will be used as the basis for the next stage of the project where thyssenkrupp Marine Systems Australia will work closely with the recently contracted prime system integrator, Lockheed Martin Canada.

It is significant that this Contract signature was achieved following the week of the RNZN-hosted User Workshop in Auckland for the international navies that operate thyssenkrupp Marine Systems designed Blohm+Voss MEKO® Ships. It is also significant that during this week of the Workshop the NZ MoD signed a further Contract representing an extension of the work on the current RNZN ANZAC Class Platform Systems Upgrade.

thyssenkrupp Marine Systems Australia looks forward to the continuation of its long and successful cooperation with the New Zealand Ministry of Defence and the Royal New Zealand Navy.
