ACPB Safety Case

To aid in the certification and acceptance of the Armidale Class Patrol Boats (ACPB), AMT was contracted by the Patrol Boat SPO to undertake a System Safety Assessment to identify residual risk associated with the maintenance and operation of the Rafael Typhoon Mk-25 Naval Stabilised Gun system, the two (2) 50cal guns, the two (2) Minimi guns, pyrotechnics and onboard ordnance for these guns and for small arms ammunition.

AMT deliverables formed part of the overall safety assessment for the ACPB. Vessel safety was prepared by DMS and Gun System Safety by Rafael. AMT deliverables provided the safety assessment of the integration of the gun systems with the vessel and the handling and stowage of the explosive ordnance. The combination of these three aspects formed the complete safety assessment necessary for acceptance by the naval certification authorities.
