RAN Commissary Spaces Upgrade

This upgrade involved investigation and design integration in response to revised RAN client requirements with respect to ANZAC Ship work flows, serving flows and galley functionality. The change involved a rearrangement of the ANZAC Ship galley complex, removing the Ready-Use Dry Provisions store and the relocation of this function into the Food Preparation Area. This allowed the placement of a totally new Serving Passage to enable the required work and servery flow improvements.

The upgrade required very careful co-ordination noting the number of mechanical systems runs and ventilation duct changes and reconfiguration of a main vertical services route associated with the modification. (This vertical services route is a key component of the MEKO concept of sectional independence for enhanced survivability). Upgrades to the equipment and functionality of the Wardroom Pantry and Scullery were also undertaken.

This design change was performed utilising tailored systems engineering processes involving close dialogue with the Navy Sponsor in the Requirements Definition and Concept Exploration phases, and the result is a high profile showcase of designer/customer cooperation.
