LPA DSE Installation | |
|
RAN LPA ships currently have a Direct Support Element (DSE) facility which includes a compartment, external antennas and connections
to ship services. Project Bunyip requires additional space, new antennas and equipment to be fitted to the ships. In addition, inspections
of the existing DSE compartments have identified a number of deficiencies with respect to requirements for a security compartment.
AMT was awarded a contract to prepare a detailed design package (DDP) to address these issues. The resultant DDP:
enlarged the existing DSE compartment whilst retaining a Catering Office
replaced a number of the existing DSE equipment racks with new racks
replaced a number of the existing DSE antennas with new antennas
re-cabled all the DSE antennas on the main mast
upgraded the power system to supply the new equipment racks
relocated and replaced redundant and obsolete equipment
upgraded DSE compartment to comply with Physical and TEMPEST (EMSEC) security requirements
added an optical surveillance capability
Following the delivery of the Detail Design Package, the DMO requested AMT to provide Technical Support Services to assist the DMO in
project managing the Installation and Test & Trials phases of this project. Under this second contract AMT will provide Procurement Support,
ILS, Installation Support and Test & Trials Support services, including the procurement of most of the long lead item and the supervision
of the installation contractor.
During the production of the DDP, AMT produced a mast model and conducted Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on it to confirm the
structural strength of the LPA mast. The Commonwealth has since awarded AMT another contract to conduct FEA to confirm the structural
strength of the LPA mast following the incorporation of other configuration changes.
