The Mk3E Ship 10 involves the upgrade of the CelsiusTech 9LV453 Mk3 Combat Management System (CMS) fitted in ANZAC Ships to the Mk3E COTS
Based CMS. This includes hardware and software capability upgrades as well as independent C2 Cooling System and reconfiguration of the shock
mounted Operations Room Floor. The primary areas impacted are Operations Room and Command and Control (C2) electronics spaces.
AMT participated as a member of the Mk3E Ship 10 Integrated Product Team (IPT) under contract to Tenix Marine with primary focus being
Principal Design and spatial coordination activities. As well as being an IPT member, AMT provided support to the detail design and production
effort.
AMT designed the dedicated Mk3E MFC cooling system and also utilised 3D modelling to ensure optimum ergonomic positioning of MFC operators in
relation to the new Mk3E MFCs and the existing top and side consoles. The consoles and chairs are mounted on a shock mounted floor which was
reconfigured to accommodate the change. Dynamic Transient finite element analysis was used to model the Operations Room floor, validated
against existing arrangements to determine the reconfigured shock mounted arrangement.
The Mk3E CMS has been installed in-build to ANZAC Ship 10, delivered to the RAN in 2006. The design developed for the Ship 10 upgrade is being
utilised as the basis for the Mk3E component of the ANZAC Anti-Ship Missile Defence (ASMD) upgrade to be installed on all the RAN ANZAC
frigates.
