RNZN Habitability Upgrade Program (HUP) | |
|
The first of these upgrades involved the investigation and design integration of revised RNZN client requirements with respect to the
CPO Pantry, Dining and Recreation area functionality. The change involved the total rearrangement of the CPO Mess, stripping out the old
Pantry to open up the space and form a new Bar/Pantry area, stripping out the old Bar area to open up the Mess and form a new Entrance
Lobby, and swapping the old Dining and Recreation areas forward to aft. The change required careful co-ordination with respect to mechanical
systems pipework, ventilation ducts and electrical cabling and lighting.
This design change was performed utilising a systems engineering based approach involving close dialogue with the RNZN sponsor, facilitating
the development of a strong and cooperative working arrangement with the RNZN and Babcock New Zealand Limited (BNZL) in detail design and in
support of subsequent production activity.
Additional tasking was performed by AMT in the design integration of changes to the Galley, and to the PO Mess, Dining and Recreation area
functionality. The change involved the rearrangement of the Galley complex to include RNZN mandated equipment (New Ovens / Food Warmer /
Upright Freezer) and the inclusion of a walk-in Ready-use Cool Room. The PO’s Mess was rearranged to merge the old Classroom and Recreation
Spaces to form an enlarged Recreation Space area, enlarge the Bar area and modify the entrance / workflow arrangements of the Pantry.
The Wardroom was modified to separate food serving and scullery functions, and provide improved facilities for local food storage.
The full extent of these changes was of a similar magnitude to that for the CPO Space changes defined above, and further developed the
strong and effective working relationships between AMT and both the RNZN and BNZL.
