The RAN managed Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour is now sailing the high seas with a new galley fit to service all the crews
and any passengers who may sail in her.
AMT has evolved a design offering much improved food preservation, preparation, cooking, display and distribution processes. Obsolete, worn
out fitted equipment and furniture has been replaced with modern new facilities providing the capabilities of a small shore based kitchen.
The opportunity was also taken to completely strip out the old galley and rebuild it with stainless steel linings, new graded floor for
improved drainage, improved lighting and improved ventilation to make it more habitable. The work was undertaken meeting the requirements
of Navy rules as well as those of Lloyd's Rules for classification of vessels of this type.
Installation was completed in very quick time beginning December 2006 in Newcastle under the supervision of the Government Amphibious
and Afloat Support System Program Office (AASSPO).
